Our Potomac is a large (11.5" x 11.5" x 1") hardbound coffee table photography book.
It makes a gentle but compelling case for the perpetual respect and protection that our river deserves.
What makes the book unique is its concentration on just 17 miles of the river – the stretch most accessible to people in the Washington metropolitan area.
The photographs follow the Potomac downriver to show its remarkable transformation from raging falls surrounded by lush forests to an idyllic setting for many of Washington’s great attractions.
Our Potomac was inspired by Roy’s affection for hiking and bicycling along the river and the adjacent Chesapeake & Ohio Canal.
There are 216 photos, of which Roy took 190, plus Roy wrote all the text and captions.
Tom Field, Roy’s photography collaborator, contributed 26 photos.
Matthew Logan, former President of the Potomac Conservancy, wrote the compelling Foreword.
